Class Description

Building the right color palette and knowing how to create specific colors are some of the most challenging yet important aspects of design. In this color class, you will learn the secrets of working with color and how to apply it to all your baked goods. So whether you work with fondant, royal icing, buttercream or beyond this class will help improve your color skills and save you from buying a bunch of coloring since you only need the basics. First we will go over color theory, different types of food coloring and how to build harmonious sets of colors. Then we will learn how to make a range of bright, bold colors as well as soft, earthy colors. Together we will mix a handful of sample color palettes and end with a fun color matching challenge!


- Explore different types of food coloring and learn which mediums they can work with

- Build your own color wheel using a few basic colors

- Learn what colors work well together in a color palette

- Understand the effects that certain colors have on others

- Learn how to identify the DNA of a color and create your own custom colors


Class FAQs

  • All class tickets are non-refundable once purchased.
  • All classrooms are on the second floor of MACC.
  • You will need a general admission ticket in order to register for classes, including classes hosted on Friday.
  • The vendor hall will not be open on Friday, and is only open Saturday & Sunday.
  • Classes will begin promptly at the time scheduled.
  • Saturday and Sunday there will be a two two-hour break from 1:00-3:00 to allow time for lunch, shopping, raffle drawings and contest results.
  • All class materials and tools are included for classroom use only, unless otherwise noted. Students will NOT keep any tools used in class. Each student will be provided with a box to take home your completed class project.
  • No children or guests allowed in classrooms. Only registered students will be permitted inside the class area.

In the event that the minimum student enrollment requirement is not reached by the specified deadline, the class will be cancelled. Affected students will promptly receive notification and will be provided with a  complete refund for the class/demo.
